First Regen 730 miles

2019 GMC 3500 Denali sb srw

Delivered Nov 19th 2019

First regen at approx 730 miles. Lasted 15 miles.

So far Def still shows OK
Oil filter life at 90%
File filter life at 95%
Current mileage 745

31 engine hours
12 idle hours (got it with 102 miles and 8.5 idle hours)

This thing is a towing beast
Not sure I am a fan of the digital steering, seems a bit squirrelly to me.
Other than that, I am totally loving this truckClick image for larger version

I have a 2018 Duramax with 15k miles on it and I can't tell when it does a regen at all. It must be using the DEF, cause I need to fill it every 2.5k miles when towing. When the DEF low light comes on, you have about a 100 miles left to tow.
If you want to protect that painted bumper, consider having the bumper clear vinyl wrapped for about $300. Also put a guard over the lower transmission cooler opening.

I have a 2018 GMC and can tell when its in regen because of the elevated idle at stops. I put a 2 1/2 gal jug of def in when it says 1000 mi left and can get 2 jugs in when its at the 300 mi warning. I have 40k mi on mine.

That could be why I don't notice the regen. I only use my truck for towing the camper and it's usually 300 mi days when it does move with very little stopping involved.

Thanks. Will look into the clear wrap and the guard for the cooler, definitely exposed.

Yes, elevated idle is quite pronounced. Mine was running between 800 and 850, 150 -200 rpm above normal.

I have been reading about such a huge variation in regens and DEF usage.

Thanks

Absolutely, totally loving this truck. Jury is out on the digital steering though.

Your DEF tank must have been less than 1/4 full from the dealer. With your included oil change from the dealer, they will only put in 1, 2-1/2 gallon jug max.

Could be, it did show ok. Is the gauge reading automatic when filled?

Will add after Christmas and let you know.
