Fuel mileage
Thinking about switching to a new chevy 3/4 ton diesel. I’m just wondering about fuel mileage pulling and not pulling.

Duramax mileage
My 2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD Duramax achieved an average highway mileage of 22 mpg unladen. However, now the 8' bed is loaded with gear, is covered with a cap, and the platform rack on the cap roof is also loaded with gear. I now average only 16-18 mpg highway miles. When my fully laden truck tows my 10,000-lb trailer, I've been averaging 10.5 mpg over thousands of miles.
Hope that info helps!

Real question to answer should be what's the cost per mile?
That's what we were asked by our son the heavy equipment diesel mechanic. (40 years of advanced training & experience)

mpg
I have a 2018 with 35,000 miles on it now
It gets over 20 mpg up to 26 was the best on the hwy
But when towing a 20' mini lite it gets 12 if I slow down to 55 mph
I think it's mostly the wind resistance as the trailer is only 4100lbs
I put a wing on the back of the camper shell but it didn't help because it was to far in front of the trailer I believe
