New 15 F350 CC DRW 6.7
After doing everything short of major surgery on my 06 F250 6.0 to pull our coach with Swivelwheel dw58 & Goldwing, approx 16.5K, it's not enough. Darn, it has been the best vehicle I've ever owned, 200K + and Zero issues. Today I pick up our new tow rig and hopefully begin towing with confidence.
Any recommendations on anything to do to it?
What kind of fuel economy do you get towing & driving around town?
Any issues with the 6.7?

We also had an 06 6 litre....which went through a couple of turbos, intercooler, high pressure oil pump.....well you get the idea.......we sold it and bought an 11 6.7 litre F350.....What a difference....We haven't had any work done to it yet at 30 k miles....I don't use it as a daily driver so I cant give you an idea about gas mileage.....I wouldn't do a thing to it, largely because yours is still under warranty....Just get out there and pull with confidence......something my 6 litre couldn't do for me. You are gonna notice a huge difference that will have you smiling pulling up a grade.

YEP, I definitely notice a big difference and its so quiet. Drove it 200 miles and got 17.4 mpg, wow that's fantastic. Dealer spent over 1hr going thru everything. If your in Goshen, IN and need a Ford, go to Eby Ford, great people, particularly Chris Rayl

New 15 F350 CC DRW 6.7
Bought a new 2012 F-350 Powerstroke DWD 4X4,Great no problems. Sold it and just bought a 2015 F-350DWD 4x4.wonderful engine. Runs like a scared rabbit, pull anything you hook it to. Not broke in yet 658 miles. Pull a 15,000 lb Mobile Suites 36 foot 5er with it. Doesn't know it's back there.

Brand Loyalty
I just don't understand you people on this thread...My 1st diesel pickup was a 1999 F-250 with the 7.3 great truck...In 2005 traded it in on a F-350 DW with the 6.0...For the following 4 years the Ford dealer had the truck more then I did making engine repairs...I had all the above mentioned problems...In 2009 I had to get out of that truck and buy something reliable and bought a Ram 3500 with a 6.7 Cummins...I have never had a single problem with it...I take it to the dealer and have all the fluids and filters changed and just keep pulling my 18,000 pound 5th wheel...I will never give Ford another chance after the 6.0 mess...Prior to that truck I was a ford guy...

It's too bad you had to experience that. Luck of the draw? I can certainly see where someone would become tarnished if they had a bad experience with a 6.0.
I put over 1 MIL Miles on 6.9 and 7.3L Powerstrokes (1982, 1986, 1993, 2 x 1999, 2000, 2002), but skipped right over the 6.0. My 2000 7.3 went long enough @ 220K, that Ford was already in a squabble with Navstar, over the 6.0's. I switched to a 2007 Chevy D/A and put 186K trouble free miles on it. None of my Fords and 1 Chevy diesel ever had any mechanical malfunctions, only normal wear and maintenance. I decided to go back to Ford and bought two 2013 6.7L, a F350 DRW for my work truck and to tow the 5th wheel, and a F250 for my wife. My 2013 6.7 DRW had 68K on it when I sold it last month. It never saw a mechanic I am now driving my wife's 2013 6.7 F250. They seem to be amazing engines.
GM went through a long run of bad diesels before they adopted the Duramax. When they added the Cummins in the early 90's, they were still a Dodge. They have came a long ways but I have not yet crossed that bridge.

I had 73,000 on my 2011 F250 and not one single problem. I got around 18-19 mpg driving it back and forth to work (38 miles each way) every day and drove around 70 mph. 12 miles were highway, 26 interstate. I traded it a couple of months ago to a 2015 F450. I have to drive around 60-65 mph to get 17-18mpg with the lower gearing. At 65 mph it's turning 2000 rpm's for comparison and anything above 65 mph it drops off quickly. 10 mpg towing on the F250 and it appears about the same with the F450. I pull a 35 foot Fuzion 322TE toy hauler but no matter what I pulled with the F250 I pretty much got 10 mpg.
I just pulled my toy hauler Thursday to get my Class A license and got about 8.5 mpg but it was windy. I pull at around 65 mph when able. So far, I'd say I've averaged around 9 overall but have dealt with traffic or wind the few times I've pulled it with my F450. The one day I had no traffic and no wind I averaged 10. I'm going to the eastern half of Tennessee in June so will definitely see how it does on that trip.
As far as Dodges, I saw a newer model pulling a trailer broke down on the side of the road the other day. It happens to all of them but no doubt the Cummins is a great engine. The Ford 7.3 is hard to beat and my cousin is still driving what used to be his dads truck. Still runs like new and well over 200,000 miles, it's been an incredible truck.

It is kind of interesting in reading the mfg diesel engine posts--37 pages on Dodge/3 on Ford/2 on Duramax...
Don't know what to conclude about that...

I'm northwest of Houston in Magnolia, TX and in the SRW trucks it's not even close, Ford outnumbers the other two combined which doesn't mean a lot I guess because the GMC diesels are few and far between. In the DRW I'd say it's pretty even with Ford and RAM but definitely see RAM on the increase. I think the new GMC DRW trucks look great but I hardly ever see one though I have seen a couple of brand new ones in the last month or so. I was in Nashville a couple of months ago and saw several GMC DRW trucks and soon as I walked out of the airport I saw a brand new one. It was black, all cleaned up, and was a beautiful looking truck. I saw way more GMC diesel trucks there than here in this are of Texas.
Now, saying all of that, diesel trucks, both SRW and DRW, are everywhere here. It's insane but there are RAM and Ford diesels everywhere and DRW are very common. Lots of people pulling horse trailers and they are almost exclusively DRW trucks and RAM is very common.
I've owned neither a Dodge/RAM nor a GMC product but I doubt you can go wrong with any of them. They are all great trucks and the market is too competitive for one to be that much better in my opinion.

I'm very happy with our 2015 F350 CC DRW truck.
It drags my almost 18k Toy Hauler up and down the hills and across the plains without ever breaking a sweat. No downshifting and roaring of the engine, just a smooth-steady almost electric like power... The Engine Brake is very effective and automatic.
Mileage dragging my rig is around 8.5 and bob tailing it I am around 15 but have seen as high as 17. It's the regens of the DPF that screw up the mileage and if I am doing more around town driving, the regens are more frequent. I have not yet seen a regen whilst towing.
Only real complaint to date is the crappy headlights and there are aftermarket alternatives I am looking into. I am also installing air bags to give just a little more support and keep those crappy headlights on the road..
