BlueFire engine monitoring

I just swapped out my Scangauge D for the new BlueFire bluetooth J1939 adapter. I mounted an iPad mini on my dash. Features are incredible and company releases new features all the time. You can monitor all kinds of engine, fluid level, etc. data. Very flexible interface and the trip features are great. You can also view and clear codes. Very reasonably priced - about the same as Scangauge.

I bought my Scangauge D for one reason - to be able to monitor transmission temp. The BlueFire is liking having an onboard computer system to monitor your chassis, trip, etc. Similar to higher end systems like VMSpc by Silverleaf at way lower cost.

When you can, post some screen shots of the iPad. Very interested as I also have a Scangauge and not happy.

Best thing is just go to their website. You can also download the app for free and play with the different screens, set up your dash, etc.

Does anyone use an Edge CTS monitor? I tried a Scan Gauge a few years ago on my diesel pickup but ended up switching to a CTS Evolution and like it alot better.

Thanks for the post. I've used other apps for my cars (Torque) along with bluetooth ODBII adapter in the past but no longer care enough to run one. On my motorhome however it would be nice to see the additional gauge views. I'd also like to see your setup if you wouldn't mind sharing.

The Scanguage seems like a relic of the 90s. I guess it's fine if you only want to monitor one or two things, but for the price they charge for it.... I'd much rather use an app on an old smart device.

I just replaced my Scangauge with a Bluefire unit. I have my dash running on a old iPad mini that I had laying around. I mounted it above the dash in the driver side cubby using a RAM roller mount. Really liking it and I just found out that you can set up a dash and either scroll horizontally or vertically so I plan to add everything the ECU puts out and IF its something I need to see I can just quickly swipe the screen. I also like that it is a code reader and it will actually tell you the description of the code.

This is the Edge Insight, is anyone running this? It allows up to 16 parameters to be shown at the same time.

Edge Insight looks like a big step up from Scangauge, but I like the total customizability of the Bluefire. I am pretty happy with how I have dash set up now. 6 things in a prominent position that I can easily scan. And then a bunch of other gauges/numbers that I would like available.

Bluefire - and at 1/2 the cost of Edge.

I have been searching the forums and came across the bluefire and scangauge devices for monitoring additional items that do not display on the DIC. I would like to buy one and I am leaning towards the bluefire. Do those that have this unit have any regrets so far?

Having had both the Bluefire system is so much better than the Scangauge being able to have more than 4 gauges. Definitely recommend the Bluefire.

Here is a long running thread on the BlueFire system that would be the best place to post any questions you might have: https://www.irv2.com/forums/f103/vms...425748-41.html

Mine did the similar thing on my iPad. I uninstalled BlueFire and reinstalled it, then it was asking for my email address. After I entered that it started working. Not sure if this will help.
