Finally improved on the mattress supplied by Renegade

Having "slept" on the stock mattress supplied with our Renegade LE since August, I'd have to say that neither of us could take being uncomfortable any longer so we went searching for the "easiest" solution.

We ended up ordering a "Three Pound Memory Foam Mattress Topper" on Amazon and I must say that while it's not a perfect solution, it's one we can certainly live with.

If you decide to order one, be certain you order the "RV SHORT KING" version as it fits our mattress perfectly.

Same thing for us except we used a latex foam topper. Now it sleeps better than the high dollar mattress in the house.

Added the 3 " memory also but from Walmart. Got the normal length and added a hinged swing up platform to the end of the bed with a 6" wide foam so that the bed is a normal length. With hinges it folds down to bring in the slide.

Replaced ours with a custom (due to dimensions) latex mattress from Flobeds.

Memory foam seems to be the consensus and I might add that, after two nights sleeping on it, we're more than happy with the results.

Just got back from a 11 day trip and I'm still fine with the stock mattress.
Maybe I don't know what I'm missing

I have lumbar issues from my days as a professional firefighter and the stock mattress seemed to make them worse.... With the foam topper, at least I can get some comfort and the bestie likes it as well.

That, my friend is why there's so many flavors of ice cream.

Different strokes for different folks.... Heck, if we were all alike it'd be a boring life.

Our mattress was, as most say, Too hard. I bought the short queen mattress cover from Camping World. It worked great for about a month. Then the filling started separating. It was tissue thin in some places and four inches thick in others. We had previously bought a memory foam mattress from Sam's club for our bed at home. We loved it! I bought a queen for the camper. I cut off 6 inches to make a short queen. We have used it for two years and love it. I haven't tried it yet, but I am thinking about making a drivers seat pad from the cut off material. For those long driving days. My 78 year old bottom ain't what it used to be.

We have slept on the mattress at most 30 times since buying the coach. My side (220 lb. me) has a deep indentation that won't spring back up even after sitting for a week or two in the storage lot. Is this what memory foam means? It sure remembers me and my back is starting to hurt.

We put a 2" gel based foam pad on top and that only makes the hole softer and my back still hurts.

Yesterday we turned the mattress 180 degrees but I am sure the hole will come back.

At home we use a 100% Talalay method latex mattress made from real rubber trees. It is heavy and I am wondering if one made for the coach would be too heavy for the slide?
