Generator Door Lock
Every outside compartment door on my Renegade has a lock, EXCEPT for the generator door. I'm sure someone, somewhere, sometime or other, decided for all of us that the generator door should remain unlocked. However, I really think it would be better, IN MY CASE, if that generator door was locked. It looks like it would be very easy to add a lock (matching the other compartment doors of course). Has anyone done this? Thanks!

Your LP gas compartment should not be lockable. Maybe you can just switch the openers,

I have wondered this as well and will be watching this thread to see if there is a safety reason to not have a lock on the generator door.

Its easier to put out a fire If the door doesn't half to be pryed open.
If someone is going to steal your generator, they won't let the lock stop them.

I agree. All the lock would do is make it clear that generator tampering had occurred. Although I sincerely hope that would be a rare event, it could easily save $$$ if starting was simply delayed until genny tampering was corrected.
FWIW, I grew up when one would never need to worry about such things. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the way of the world today.

Our Sunstar generator door has a lock. The LP door, not.

Generator Door Lock
Every rig I have owned or rented do not have locks for both compartments
I believe this is a Federal Highway Safety Issue and RV manufacturers Association for easy access, for fires in the propane and Generator compartments.

Both National RV coaches I've owned had locks on the Generator compartment.
Propane, not locked.

For those interested, my outside compartment door locks are made by Trimark. It appears that model 060-0475 would be the correct match for my coach, although there are options for the number of locking positions, pin styles, etc. I chose to pay a bit extra and order a lock for my generator door thru Renegade rather than try to correctly sort out the options myself.
As previously stated, I realize the door lock will not secure my generator, but I will be able to tell if/when any tampering has occurred before the generator is started.
