Help with ants
We got down to our coach this weekend only to find that ants found their way in through the access ports for the water line and power cord.
Does anyone have a good solution to close up these areas while the water hose and power cord are connected to avoid bugs and small critters from getting in? I used some ant spray and aluminum foil that we had on hand but am looking for a better solution if there is one.
Thanks

I’ve only had temporary solutions in the past. Spray, duck tape, ant bait traps on outside of site pad. I came across this recently. Looks interesting but I have no idea how effective it is...

We had Ghost Ants due to a drip of red wine on the counter. I left some Terro ant poison out for a few days and it did it's job.

A suggestion.......
Buy a large sponge, like you would use to wash your car, the denser the foam the better.
Cut each to be round so as to snuggly fit into the round compartment access hole.
Cut a hole in center of each to snuggly fit around the electrical cord or garden hose. Then slice the sponge from the center hole to the outside diameter.
Stuff the sponge around the electrical cord after hooking up electric.
As far as I know this should/might work, but also do not know for sure that ants cannot chew thru a "sponge grommet" if they detected some strawberry jam on the other side.
Good luck,
DeetsMaggie

You just jogged my brain into gear. I think I will try a pool noodle.
How’s that for using your noodle.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Update
When we purchased the memory foam topper for the bed we had to cut off about 6 inches to make it fit the RV King bed. I used a length of this to wrap around the power cord and water hose. I compress it and stuff it in the access port. It expands quickly to fill the void and seals pretty darn good. No more ants.

I'd use a medium expansion foam to seal those areas but i would not expect it to work very well. There are so many places for ants to get in and all they have to do is to crawl up the tires and explore the underside. They can also take up residence if you park for a while.
Ants send explorers like Lewis and Clark. They go back leaving a pheromone path. Then the great migration follows. Don't leave any fat or sugar bits out. Oddly enough we keep the sweet goodies in the oven and they won't go there. If some do invade wipe everything they touched with vinegar or Windex to remove the trail.
Terro is the ultimate answer as has been said. Sometimes they won't go in the traps. Then I pour out a drop along the trail. They take it home and die.
