Question L9 torque upgrade

Those of you with few year old Verona/LE coach's with the L9 that had the old 1000 foot lbs torque and upgraded to 1150. How much of a difference did it make? I know that is a subjective question but thinking of do it and trying to figure out if it is worth it.

Do you know the build dates with the 1000 vs the 1150? I wonder what my 2019 model has?

You should already have the 1150 the change was either the 18 or 19 model year.

I've had it done.

Can't say I can significantly tell the difference (had it done and went to Alaska 12k miles), BUT I also live by the rule on HP/torque that too much is never enough.

I would recommend having it done. If nothing else, it didn't hurt and it also changes the shifting somewhat and makes it crisper.

Exactly my thought, I want to have the Jake operation changed anyways, so that is how I am thinking just wanted to know if there was a big change or not. Cummins dealer told me that it can be done but HP goes down a bit so it probably ends up a wash. I also think it must be an improvement or they would not have it on all the new ones.

Basically it is the tune used for trash trucks which do a lot of full throttle starts and stops so the the extra torque helps supposedly as well as the different shift curve.

Just think, you will go from owning a box truck to owning a garbage tuck LOL.

Ziggy

Thanks, that explains why Cummins told me I would loose 5 or so HP. Lower HP more torque, in the end it is basically a wash. I bet the new 1150 program build more torque at a lower RPM then drops back to where the 1000 program is. Wish I could see a torque/HP curve chart for each that would tell all. The torque curve on these is darn flat as is.
