Regenerate

This is my first vehicle with a regen switch. All my other diesels were automatically regenerated. How often-miles/ days etc do you regenerate. On my walkthrough I was told monthly. But wondered if you only drove a short distance should it be longer? Thanks

Suggest you check with your engine manufacturer for specific instructions. However, it is my understanding that modern diesels monitor exhaust gas pressure differential which will trigger an auto regen when it senses the DPF beginning to fill up. My ISL does a regen about every 1,500 - 2,000 miles. I also have a regen switch but that is used to initiate a stationary regen if necessary.

My auto regens occur while running down the road and usually last about 20 minutes. I will get a 'Hot Exhaust' yellow light on the dash during the regen. Suspect you have a Cummins diesel in your Verona so I would think it is set up in a similar way.

Boba...You should not have to do a manual regen with a modern Cummins. It does it itself and if it should have and issue it will tell you of such. Do not baby it and do not idle it and you will be fine.

Mine regenerate at 1100 miles, the same day I bought it. Man does the exhaust smell.

SSTuner: Interesting that yours went into regen mode. I have 17,400 on my Verona and I have yet to observe a regen (atleast that I was aware of).

Ditto,
I only have 9k miles but have yet to 'see' a regen in the 16 months I've had it.

If you have a Scanguage, there is a code to setup observing the SCR temp. When mine is in regen the temp goes up to 800+ degrees. In some cases you will see the high temp dash light, which is above the speedometer, when shutting down. This is the indication that a regen was in progress, but had not completed its process. On the 8.9L you generally can't tell if the regen is in progress.
