Go big or go Home - MCI build

Ive had slide in campers and ive had bumper pulls and ive had 5th wheels. I have been looking for something else since my last 5th wheel caught fire and Ive decided to build a conversion. The platform ... a 1980 MC9. Guessing a couple million miles on the chassis - engine was new out of framed 13,450 hours ago.

Here is the start ...

Thanks - Im 6 months in lol and hope to have it usable by Memorial day.

This thing was nasty and took days to gut. Also had electrical issues. Did a complete rewire and converted to 12v.

Apparently they build the bus around the bathroom - it was a royal pain the remove.

Thought about doing that when I was younger. Never got around to it with work, home life and now to old to take it on. Best of luck and hope you get it working for the next camping season. Safe travels

Enjoy the journey

I dont want this excuse to be a reason I dont have one. As ive gotten older and in poorer heath I already have to ask for help with this one. I just cant do what I used to be able to do.

I weighed the old girl once gutted and picked up some RV items for the build. floors are in and floor plan is figured out.

With the 12v conversion pretty much done I wanted to get the outside cleaned up a little before winter. A humidity spike on the last coat screwed it up so ill have to repaint in the spring. At least it looks a lot better in the yard.
I went with 4 Northstar AGMs for the house batteries.

Framing and house electrical started. Its to the point now that I can visualize the end result.

Great engine, had them in my 64 and 72 GMC's, just keep the revs up, They are happy at 2000+ rpm's, and remember only use strait 40 weight oil.
