Extended warranty

I'm leaving this spring as a fulltimer-boondocker with a 5er and a RAM 2011, 3500 SLT.

Now, do I really need Extended warranty on that Truck ?

I'm Canadian , and on my purchase Dodge.ca is giving me:

basic: 3 years- 37,000 m / power train: 5 years-62,000 m / engine: 5 years- 99,000 m.

So do I need more than that ? I don't use to beat my ''horse'' Ya, usually I can get along without having to ...

The proposed extended warranties are pretty expensive !

I know, if you have it when you brake down, but that Truck look like solid and ...

You have more than adequate time to make that decision, until your factory warranty expires. If you purchase an extended service plan now, you will be paying interest on that purchase price until the truck is paid for, making the initial purchase price a lot higher in the end.

Not sure about Dodge, but with a Ford an extended warranty can be purchased without penalty anytime within the first 12mo/12000mi--then there is only a $100 charge up to 36mo/36000 miles. Suggest you put aside the money you would pay for the warranty and see how the truck works for basic warranty period if they allow this.
