HDT conversion and licensing in Florida

We are starting our full time life next year and would like to use an HDT. I've done lots of research and had my mind made up on SD as my domicile, but life dealt me Florida. I haven't had any luck finding someone who knows what Florida requires for registering an HDT converted to RV hauler and what licensing I would need to drive this. I would appreciate any information this forum could provide me. Thanks in advance.

There is alot of information available on the Escapees forum. I have an HDT Truck registered in Florida as an RV - but it was registered elsewhere as a motorhome, so the confused person at DMV just transferred it.

With that being said, you can also register it as a private truck in Florida with no issue. To do a conversion, you will run into an issue - to register it as an RV, it can't have a weight bearing hitch, regardless of type - think fifth wheel hitch.

Another source of information is the HDT's for RVing Facebook page.
