From the looks of all the beautiful rigs, it seems our ranks are getting bigger every month.
Just a note: The 2008 National HDT Rally will be held 10/5/08 threw 10/11/08 at the fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas. We will be holding 75 sites for the event. There will be a lot of room to expand as the rally grows.
If anyone wants to check out some of the rigs feel free to come on out for the week. This event is well attended by a lot of full timers as well. They are always welcoming anyone interested with questions to stop on by. We will be having several social events during the week plus lots of time to just sit and BS with all the old timers It makes for a great week and a chance to meet a lot of great people.

Hey guys and gals, I've been an irv2 noreaster for a few years, but have not paid a lot of attention to the hdt thread here (don't know why as I frequently read the escapees forum where Toterman and a lot of others hang out). I have been towing for the last three years with a 95 Freightliner 112, singled with a homemade flatbed. I guess that ties me with Gemstone for the oldest rigs category. She's apprx. 800,000 miles young, still untouched 3406 cat.

I tow with a 2002 International 9200i. I have had it for three years now and have added about 20,000 kilometers to it's odometer which is now showing 1,375,892 kilometers. I purchased it after it had been in a minor colision with a logging truck. The hood is reconstructed but not painted yet. The first projects after purchase was new brakes shoes, drums, cams and airpots, and wheel bearings. I removed the wet kit and checked the transmission thoroughly. The fifth wheel (holland) was moved over the trailing axle to make room for a small cargo deck. I am currently changing out all the hoses (fuel, air and coolant). The trailer towed is a F37 Salem toybox filled with ATV's and motorcycles.

I have been rolling along with a 1998 Volvo, 787,569 miles on the odom.
Going on 9 years, mileage is always above 10mpg.
I'm not that heavy though, singled truck carrying a bike, trailer is at 17,000lbs.
No regrets, it's all good.

Scroll down to the "TOYS" album and you'll see a couple shots of my Peterbilt pulling a 32' Continental Cargo Stacker trailer. Hydraulic lift in stacker and would haul two full size cars, golf cart, and lots of goodies.

NICE pics, Henry!
Rick (PSD_Tweaker) -- glad to see more of us transitioning, abit.
We've done around 70K miles since starting in 2007 -- 1st 50k done the first two years (spreading ourselves abit thin, running up to Alaska & back, then over to B'ham three times, looping up thru OH, over to KS, back to AL, back to CA, then back to AL, over to SC, up the coast to NH, back to KS for the rally, etc.

We are running a Volvo 770 with Smart on the deck. Truck is a 2001 and had about 770,000 miles on the clock. We have been towing with it since spring 2008. Registered as an RV MH in Ontario Canada. Towing a 19K fiver.
Best thing we ever did was move to the Volvo.
