MBE-4000 Engine

We are in the Market for a Showhauler. Looking for a Pre DEF unit. We found a 2009 on a Frieghtliner Columbia with a MBE-4000 450hp motor. I see mostly DD13 & Cummins in the TC/HDT's. My Question is, is there any issues with the MBE-4000 to be concerned with ??

Thank in advance for any help.

Colombias are horrible trucks. The mbe is even worse. Most dealers wbolesale those units to Mexico.

I have heard the engine is decent with ok power. In case it needs parts they are more expensive than others.
As for the Columbia, we have one and it's great. My only complaint is the turning radius, other than that its smooth and rides like its on rails.
The Showhauler is a great rig. Very well built and will outlast most of the mass produced rigs.

I would suggest going to truckers forum. You will find that the mbe is a disaster. It was pulled from the market due to not meeting emission standards. The Columbia is a rattle trap with ongoing electrical problems.

I have an MBE-4000 in my freightliner SportChassis M2-112, and love the power aspect very stable truck. the only problem I have really had was the EGR valve can get stuck if you don't drive it very much. I have found that I need to drive it every month under load to keep the valve from getting stuck. between truck and trailer I am running right at 43,000 pounds . this truck and motor makes it feel like there is nothing there.

When we were shopping for a truck we made it a point to avoid the MBE-4000 engine. Lots of complaints.
