For lptop use I prefer Street Atlas, although many use Streets and Trips. I like SA because it is more flexible with route segments, and it calculates your end-of-day miles on a multi-day trip. Which Streets and Trips does not do. Neither will show clearances for a 13' 3" truck.

You might consider co-pilot on the PC IF you feel you need the clearances. But it is expensive.

I have now pretty much switched to a Nexus 7 running Co-pilot (the $9.99 version). It also will not show the high clearances, although it does have an RV mode.

For PC use I like Street Atlas the best. JMO.

X2 on that one. We used it all the way from Phoenix to Disneyworld and back,...along with all the different stops, and didn't have any problems with it. You can set the mode to Truck, Rv, or Automobile mode, along with height and width settings for restrictions.

I used an off-line app called OsmAnd for when there was no cell phone service. It was very accurate. It uses open source maps and is free!

I am currently working on this type of set up. I will be able to switch monitors from lap top to camera system. I am almost finished with the monitor mounts. I like this system because it is easily upgradeable as monitors, programs and computers improve in features and quality.
