That is very interesting! I'll have to think about that!

Don't the cooler t stat will affect the engines fuel ratio. I'd look at cleaning the exterior of the radiator from behind with a radiator genie. This will greatly help.

I don't have an engine heating problem. My typical engine temperatures range from 185° to 197° or so when driving on flat ground. Peak engine temperature when pulling long grades like the ones on I70 west of Denver peak at 208°. What I have is a NOISE problem.

My Torque Pro will tell me if I have fuel ratio issues. I suspect that it won't change enough to get out of the correction zone of the ECU.

I guess I should have finished up with the 2 electric fans were concentrating the hot air right on the center where the bi-metal coil was on the declutching fan keeping it running most of the time when the outside air was over 80 degrees. Now that the electric fans are gone it is rare that the declutch fan comes on.

The clutch fan will begin engaging when 'radiator discharge air temp' hitting the bi-metallic coil is upwards of 150 degrees. When the discharge air is below 150F the clutch fan is limited to ~ 800-1400 rpm. When conditions produce high radiator discharge air temps (above 150F+) the bi-metallic coil on the front of the clutch will begin engaging. Eventually providing as much as 2200 rpm fan speed.

When your engine is stone cold are you able to spin the clutch fan? It should not spin much.

Generally when they fail they will freewheel spin. But I have seen them fail in the engaged position. Not as often as freewheeling.
