1991 Kwikee step parts /Chevy P30
I have a 1991 Monterey by Cobra 30ft Class A that has a one step Kwikee electric step. They are stuck out and won't go in. I have the owners manual for the #860 steps and have ran the tests and I think the motor is shot. How do I find what parts will fit this dinosaur. Many part listings say for 1999 or newer steps. I have the orange box 9513 control unit. Does kwikee have a website? kwikee.com doesn't work
Some post say a 1996 Taurus power window motor will work. Will it work on a 1991?
I wish I could put a hand crank on it.....
Help if you can

Welcome to iRV2.
Kwikee was a division of Power Gear and that company has been bought up by Lippert.
Power gear
Led to the Lippert site last time I checked.
I know the Ford P/W motor works on my 99 , if you can post a picture of you step motor I see if it's the same.

Kwikee steps
I called Lippert Components and parts for anything older than 1999 are no longer available. Attached is a pic of my step motor. They said I should buy a complete new step system.

Picture didn't come through.
Now I see it .
That, motor is the same as mine . I'll track down the motor info ; for the Ford number, others have bought the part at Auto-Zone , Napa.

Try reading this post , seems the part was used in the 80's on Ford too.

I have a B&L industries step. They've been out of business for many years so I took the motor to a motor repair shop that will do small electric motors. $100.00 works like new.

1991 Kwikee steps
I forgot to also mention my orange control box has a crack in the corner. That might be junk also. in the meantime I have removed the motor assembly & drilled holes in the swinging hinge so I can insert a bolt on each side to lock the step up for travel and also down for camping.
Post pics if you have any parts I need. hope that is not illegal.

You should be able to bench test the motor , by supplying it with battery power; and if the control box isn't functioning and you can't find a replacement , you could re-wire, by-passing the box using a power window rocker switch, mounted inside within reach when standing on the ground with the door open, and operate the step from there.
