1997 Bounder Chevy Speedo Jumping

Hello, I have a 1997 Bounder Chevy 454 7.1 on p-30 frame. I had some issues with misfire recently and check the spark plugs and replaced some wires. Checked all the battery connections. Then while driving the speedometer started fluctuating 5-10 mph and the battery gauge dips. It has died once while pulling up to a stop. It happens at all speeds more so above 25-30 mph. Tried looking for solutions but nothing I found was concrete so I decided to ask the community. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard!
You might want to check for a good ground connection on the instrument panel.
The rear harness on the tranny, possibly labeled TOSS needs to be intact. Someone else needs to chime in with better knowledge than mine.

Check the voltage output on the alternator.

Thanks, ground good on panel. Did research speed sensor in transmission possibly being the problem. Working on investigation of that.

I did have the alternator, battery and starter checked at auto parts store. Will do my own test. Thanks.

Parts change

I am taking a chance replacing the ignition coil and see if that works. Will update after testing.

Also check that the EGR is functioning correctly.

If it plugged or not working it will cause drivability issues including stalling when coming to a stop.

There's 2 of them and they are inexpensive and quite simple to change-all you need is a 10mm wrench and a rag. Don't even need to raise the rig (unless you have a 46+ waist)
