does anyone know where the fuel filter is located n a 2004 8.1 chevy vortec

I can't be sure on your National, but on the Gulfstream I had it was on the left frame rail ahead of the tank.

WELCOME to iRV2 and the Workhorse forum.

ASSUMING yours is a W series chassis, the FF is inside the driver side frame rail, just above and slightly ahead of the rear axle housing. When you find it, look to see if it has 1 inlet and 1 outlet, or if there are 2 outlets
(facing forward). If yours has two outlets (3 ports), then you MUST buy the adapter so you can use the common 2 port filter such as the AC/Delco GF481, or its current replacement number. The OE 3 port filter is no longer being made, hence the adapter.

On my 04 W22 chassis it is inside the frame rail just behind the rear axle on the drivers side. My chassis manufacture date is April 2004.
