The first time I changed plugs on my7.4l I thought they were totally shot. I looked at the new ones and the electrodes were the same way. I guess the new plugs have very tiny electrodes.

The guy was getting a P200 CEL.

P0200 means that the engine control module (ECM) has detected a malfunction in the fuel injector circuit.

He obviously never looked up the code. Probably has a bad fuel injector.

From what I have heard others say, it is important to monitor fuel trim to make sure your engine is not running lean causing the spark plugs to burn the electrodes. Not only does running lean damage spark plugs but can cause premature engine failure.

Depends on when one is running lean.

Under a part throttle condition while cruising? No

When under 'load' (WOT)? Yes

Load = Throttle position

You want to monitor fuel trims at cruise. WOT has a 60 sec delay on stock calibrations, so for 60 sec you are monitoring cruise even at wot.
