8.1L engine confusion over oil filter

Workhorse manual has part number PF454 ac delco for the proper oil filter, for my w-16 chassis. I went to change the oil today and there is a WIX 50106 oil filter on the engine. This filter is at least twice the size of the OEM. filter. Which filter size should I use and what is the advantage of the larger filter or is there one. I have a PF454 filter but do not know if I should install it. Thanks for help with my confusion.

I use the WIX 51060 on my MH. It makes the oil change an even 7 quarts.

There are 3 common sizes of oil filter for the 8.1 ..... half quart, one quart, two quart. The half quart is the stock size, sounds like someone put the one quart filter on. As mentioned earlier, just refill with more oil if you use a bigger filter (always check the oil level when done). If you use the search feature of the forum, the different sizes have been discussed (beaten to death) previously. Note ........ I choose the one quart size filter to use. I believe quality supersedes quantity in choosing an oil filter for the big block engine.

One thing I like about the larger filter is that it's easier to get on and off. Of course this only applies if your doing your own changes which I do.
