Well I had an auto service place I know take a look at the AC and it was the high pressure switch that was bad. He replaced it, replaced the rubber o-ring on the lower one and recharged the AC system, cost me $100. Not bad. Fans work as well now.

We have a similar AC setup. I learned a little this summer to be dangerous when it comes to AC systems. My takeaway was you not only loose Freon , you also loose oil. The Dryer ages and should be routinely changed.

You may have found a cheap solution but the ultimate test is will it last.
