My AC Compressor clutch went out and chewed up my Gator Serp Belt. AC was working perfectly. Since I'm replacing refrigerant and oil; I'm looking at the age of my AC system and was considering replacing the 13 year old Drier. I'm not willing to pay ~$100.00 for a WHCC replacement when they are easily half that elsewhere.

Can't seem to find my replacement Drier on Dales site nor the iRV2 site. AC Victory https://www.comfortairgr.com didn't have much to offer other then to measure the fitting. Anyone know the fitting sizes?

I'm thinking just go with the old Drier (if it ain't broke...). Since my water pump is not leaking and is functioning well I've decided to just change out the Idler and Tensioner with the new Gator Serp Belt.

Comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

Amazon has quite a few Driers. I found one listed for my 99 F53 which I may need. also Rock Auto.

I see lots of driers on the market... None for 100 bucks like the over priced WHCC model. And none that resemble my Drier with the Low-Pressure Switch port.

Why are you changing out oil and refrigerant, if everything was working fine??

Can you change out the a/c clutch without removing compressor?

Clutch part was almost as expensive as new compressor.

NAPA Professional compressor is so much better quality looking unit then the OEM.

BTW Did you replace your compressor and how much oil did you add?

As an HVAC professional, my advice is ALWAYS replace the drier.... even if you have to spend the $100.

The drier sever as a filter but also removes moisture from the system. One drop of water will stop the system from operating correctly and eventually destroy interior parts.

That said, somebody makes the one you need at a reasonable price. a good parts house, one that still has books and people who know how to read them, can find you one.

Not familiar with your rig but it is about the same age as mine--Alpine coach. At 13 years--think you are on the right track with replacing the compressor. So if you are going to "crack" the system anyway, do a good flush of all components, replace oil and 134A, and replace the filter/accumulator. If it has an expansion valve, replace it too.

Can you post the NAPA part # for the compressor, in case I need it someday

I have not changed my compressor on my W.H. but on my wife Honda.

I called these guys to find out how much oil to add to the system. Tell them you are replacing compressor and drier

If I remember right, they told me to drain the oil out of the old compressor and add that amount to the new one, not sure about the drier though

I've got the Filter / Accumulator ordered. Hope it comes with "O" rings?

Can't find an expansion valve. Which could mean I don't have one or I haven't found it.

The return hose has an inline filter that is not removable. Should I replace that inline filter hose?
