Allison Deep or Shallow pan

I'm about to order the in internal filter for my 2003 Monaco with the Allison 1000, does anyone know if it has the deep or shallow pan? MH is not near me so I cannot measure it.

Thanks in advance.

I can tell you "MAKE SURE".
I purchased a used coach once. Maintenance had been done to it at a dealership, before my purchase, and they installed short filters, when it should have had long filters. A year after owning it, I lost the transmission, due to lack of oil. Wrong filters was why it went out!!

Do some reading here, there is no need to pull the pan as it is not really a filter in there. Change the spin on, and you have to decide weather to upgrade your oil to Allison recomended fluids or not. I would use Allison oil as I would not depend on what other oils quality is that are avallible now days and the type of seals in your trans.

Why are you ordering the internal filter? They are never replaced on the Allison 1000 unless the transmission is being rebuilt.

You need to order the EXTERNAL spin on filter and the size of the pan has no bearing on that.

MIKE:

UNLESS something has changed recently, the part number for the external spin on filter for the 1000 series Allison is:
29539579. AFAIK, that has always been the filter needed, about 10-12 bucks at Allison Distributors or 25 bucks at Chevy dealers in an ACDelco box.

Well I already have the new Allison spin on filter and Mobile 1 Delvac transmission fluid sitting here on the bench, I will not change the internal filter/screen. My plan is to change twice after running in between to replace all the OEM dextron that's in it. Has 56k miles on the clock.

I am not doubting what you say. All I can tell you is that everything I have, including the Workhorse Chassis Guide, says the spin on filter is Allison part # 29539579. I have always bought that exact filter number (on several occasions) and installed it on both the 1000 in my 2003 W-22 and the 2100 in my 2009 W-24.

https://www.xtremediesel.com/allison...mission-filter

Since we are both trying to help the OP, perhaps he will confirm which one he just bought (see above post).

One other thing to watch for, there is a magnet washer that can stay stuck to the filter and get thown out with the old filter. Clean and reuse or if there is not one there pick one up at a Allison dealer. (Or maybe? At a auto store??)

Looks like part # 29537268 was superseded by 29539579, so you’re both technically correct

Here’s a link to the filter which also lists the magnet and internal filter as related items: https://www.ultrarvproducts.com/2953...Spin-On-Filter

When I changed out my filter on the Allison, the magnet had already pulled a disappearing act. I ordered one and installed it shortly thereafter.
