Another wiper problem, but I fixed it.
After two years of no wiper problems, I was driving through a down pour in Houston and when I went to turn off the wipers the parked in the center of the windshields instead of far left and far right. I turned them back on to see if they would park correctly, they went to the far left and far right and stayed there. I finally made it to our destination and started to take out the motor to see if it was bad. I noticed that the retaining lock nut and attaching plate were loose. I took everything off of the motor and reconnected it and it ran fine. I cleaned up all the parts put the motor back in put my wipers in the park position of the windshield and made sure the retaining plate was in the proper position on the motor--torqued down the retaining nut--put on some lock tight to insure it wouldn' loosen up again and reconnected the wiper control rods. Back in service--A back bending 2 hour fix that cost nothing but my time. I remember an old timer telling me to constantly check all the nuts, screws, connections at least once a year for they are bound to loosen up due to the vibrations of driving. This is now another nut to check on my list.
