AutoPark / Neutral Safety Switch Question

My Motorhome is a 2002 Fleetwood P32 with an 8.1 liter Engine and a GM 4L80e transmission. My Motorhome has the much dreaded AutoPark system. I have 21000 miles on the Motorhome; I purchased it 4 years ago with 18000 miles on it. My goal and still is to just travel and explore in it, (then Covid hit).

Learning much about AutoPark, thus I am trying to deal with potentials rather than aftereffects. At this point I have purchased a new "Genuine Ford" neutral safety switch to install on the transmission. I have watched countless YouTube's on it. ALL the instructions I have watched state that the transmission must be put it neutral for the replacement of the switch; this is not a problem. I would of course block the tires and place the unit on stands in order to access the switch replacement.

I have NOT seen one YouTube showing this done on a motorhome with AutoPark system.

Will Unplugging the old switch and placing the transmission in neutral cause the activation of AutoPark?

I do not want to get under there and cause further problems due to my lack of knowledge about it.

I am sure some of you have replaced the switch on a motorhome with the AutoPark.

Any info you have would be helpful and I would be totally grateful.

Oh, man, I still remember most of the problems that I/We had working on one of these back in 2012.

Neutral switch completes a circuit, so pulling connector off should not engage AutoPark.

I would strenuously advise you to pull the fuse for AutoPark, it was an option that had to be ordered with the chassis. Oddly, I remember the fuse being in the UpFitter fuse block.

I also remember that there was a lot of water ingress into the neutral switch back shell / connector. Upon reassembly, we filled the connector with silicone dielectric grease.

At the time, we were not disabling AutoPark, just trying to get the thing into gear. Neutral switch leaked a lot, likely from water ingress.

Safest method when changing out electrical parts would be to lift the negative cable off of the chassis battery. You could also separate the harness from the Autopark pump motor if you don't want the coach to roll out.

Why or how are you installing a "Genuine Ford" Neutral safety switch on a GM transmission?
