The Bat Box in the step was poorly designed and thrown in the step area. It had to long bracket welded to the chassis and I know that is a no-no on any truck frame. the front down post was 6 inches or more too long and the previous owner hit something to bend the entire box backwards and to the side allowing Acid to spill from the deep cycle battery. are they really installed like this was ? or did the owner do this? Now I want to add 2 deep cycle 6 volt Golf Cart type batteries , Is this the best battery setup I can use..??

If you mean the top of the step inside the coach opens to check the coach battery and it's not a sealed battery, that is a bad design. I know of at least one maker who does it that way. There may be folks who defend that but it is still a bad design. Find a compartment to install your coach batteries in and use AGM batteries. They will not leak. Two six volt batteries are good and the best I've found are made by Lifeline at about $170 each. They are 80lbs each and well constructed. Check out any marine website to see what they said about AGM batteries. Another solution if you want to use lead acid add water type batteries is Hydrocap brand cell caps. They were used successfully on the Moon mission. They take outgassing and turn it back into water in the cell, but run some $7 per cap. Not cheap either way but long lasting either way.
