Blue Pin in ignition switch 2002 P32 Workhorse

Recently I ran into a couple of problems while driving: Seems like my AutoPark tried to lock up while on freeway. I pulled to right lane and sweated bullets on way home. When there I turned off MH for a few while I opened gate. It would Not start after that, (I had to jump the starter to get it going). Second, I was at a gas station to get gas, when I went to start and leave AutoPark would not disengage. After several tries It finally turned off.

The error message that came up on the dash when AutoPark tried to lock up was for an error in the switch on the transmission. No error codes when I ran codes.

I searched here on irv2 for answers to my problems. (which were great). I ordered an AC Delco Starter to be safe. I also ordered a switch on the transmission and an igntion switch.

I installed the starter, (kept the core, it did still work and now I have a back up).

I still have to install the switch on the transmission.

Now,,, I got into the doing the ignition switch. Pulled the driver seat out to make room. I have removed the switch. what I found really pissed me off!

The ignition switch HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE. However, the morons DID NOT replace the plug!!! They put the new switch in with a melted damaged plug! The motor home could have shut down on me in a very serious situation.. I will not say what shop did that work but I do have many receipts showing work done by prior owner.

MY CURRENT QUESTION IS THIS...
What is the blue pin for that come in the new switch?
I wish to have that knowledge prior to me pulling it out.

Have you resized them ?

The ignition switch problem is due to a system overload and there was a relay and harness released by Workhorse to address the issue .

The Blue Pin maybe the , ignition switch off locater , to allow proper install position .
Some switches were supplied with the locater a bent wire that had to be removed to allow wiring hookup.

Have you found a source for the ignition switch multiple connector yet ?

NAPA used to have them with a foot long harness of wires for the repair.

Many late 80s Chrysler products used the same Saganaw steering column and had similar issues with the switch .
The activation rod from the key lock , is easiest to remove/install , with the switch turned 90 degrees to the rod .

Is the red circle where you have the blue pin ?

Here is one of many write-ups on adding a relay to your ignition switch to alleviate the excess load.

yes that is where the blue pin is located

Do you have the workhorse relay mod done which should prevent this in the future?

I do not. I will do that prior to installing the new switch. I need to locate the repair kit first. I am told here that workhorse has them, I will check

You can build the kit from parts for a fraction of the price workhorse charges for the kit

FYI W series owners. This only applies to the 32 series chassis with the 8.1L engine.

Ultra RV shows the kit is still available, but at $172, it is insanely over priced, as you can likely buy all the bits to duplicate the kit using prime quality parts for under $20
