Brake pads and Rotors
Does anyone have a good place to buy rotors and pads and what would new ones cost versus what the Workhorse Service Center will charge?
I suspect since Workhorse is getting a deep discount on the recall work most service centers will try to recoupe as much as they can from the long-suffering Workhorse chassis owner.
Driver did you have your pads and rotors replaced? I know service centers have different prices but ball park costs would be great. I'm a believer in having as much information as I can have before I have service work done.

Richardrky; I will have a Blog up tomorrow with pictures. I was only charged for 1 pair of brake pads for my rear axle. All of my other stuff was serviceable however I replaced all my brake components in July 2008. If you have a 6 year or older MH consider doing everything you can now because there may never be a better opportunity to do so. You can pay now or pay even more later.
If you look around for a Select Service Center (SSC), you can drive away will all new brake parts installed for about $1,000 less than the typical change that you could expect from a non SSC.

There are a number of service centers that have chosen to be a select service center and they will be able to offer a program price which is expected to save owners money on having complete brake jobs done on your vehicle. The details of the program are being put forward by service centers at the moment who are participating and the official release of the program will soon be posted on the Workhorse website in the BrakeResourceCenter.

Got a quote from Brake performance for $275/pair of dimpled-slotted rotors with premium pads with the rotors having lifetime warranty...plus free shipping...

Per my cost estimate, the WH brake kit - Rotors, seals and pads - is $995. Installation labor is $500.

That's a pretty expensive "recall" for us.

My motorhome only has about 16000 miles on it. If the rotors are not damaged is there any reason why they need to be replaced? I had a lockup last year and they replaced the left front caliper. This year my right front caliper got hot but I caught it before it did any visible damage. I let it cool overnight and drove it 300 miles home and parked it. I'm thinking maybe front pads and then replace any thing with obvious damage.
What was the part number for the parts from Brake Performance?

Mike, The recall is no charge to the customer. Everything else is optional.

If the rotors are not damaged there is no need to change them, but some may try to sell the whole packege regardless. Mine is in a local shop now for broken ex man stud and He is going to look everything over to see what I really need before my recall is done.

DriVer,
I've assumed [perhaps incorrectly] that any rotor damage showing pad material transfer or radical heat build-up would be free-of-charge as a result of the recall program. Reading this thread, I'm now... not so sure if I have it right.
What degree of rotor damage meets the standard for no out-of-pocket expense?
So, I suppose rather than being "surprised" at the time of caliper replacment..we should go ahead beforehand and independently examine our rotors for "what" degree of damage? And... as proactive...go ahead and purchase a new set of pads all around...for the service center to install at the time of caliper R&R ?
Would this be the prudent approach in-lieu-of waiting till the final hour when the "recall" work is underway, and we are at the mercy of the service center's pad & rotor prices?

OK, I re-visited the stickies about the Technical Report & pictures DriVer posted related to Rotor wear indication. Now have a better grip on how that will go.
Would providing your own rotor & pads create problems from the WH service center? Or, if they are they are, as above, the Navistar model, any problems having them installed at labor only while R&R calipers under the program?
