I have a '03 Sightseer on a P32 Workhorse. I took it out for a drive today and noticed that the brake pedal does not come back all the way when I lift my foot from the pedal. It stops just shy of the two switches thus leaving my brake lights on. The pedal does continue if I pull it toward me with my foot. There is adjustment in the two switches but they are already max'd out.
Any sugestions???

Workhorse had a problem with some weak springs. I suggest adding an additional spring or replacing the spring.

I don't know where the spring is located. Over the last couple years I've seen this problem on mailing lists and a stronger spring has fixed the problem.

I had something very much like this. It turned out to be the brake cross bar shaft was getting corroded. The pedal would not return and the brakes would actually stay on a bit. WH would lubricate it and it would be OK for a while. The last time they put a zerk fitting in it so it could be maintained. So far it's been fine.

You will see an anodized looking shaft that is vertical that has 2 bellcranks attached to it. What it does is translate the movement of the brake pedal to the Bosch Hydro-Max brake booster.
The shaft should be fitted with a grease fitting (Zirk). If not have it done the next time you're at a dealer.

Mine looks nothing like the above link. I have a P32 which is different. I have a shaft behind the brake pedal that goes down through the floor (not visable behind the hood) and connects to a small pivot point then attaches to the brake booster. Different equipment, same function. Mine is much smaller and has no zerk fitting. At least now I know what to grease. I will pull it off and put a fitting on it.
Thanks

Aside from the lubrication of the brake pedal spring I see no need for a zirk fitting to be installed on your P series unless one of our other P series owners has experience with this procedure. I see no call for it in the 06 Chassis Guide.
I was initially speaking about a W series and it is totally different than the P. The situation that you are speaking about has most likely been seen by the service centers and they would be the ones to seek remedy from.
Good luck and let us know how this situation improves.

The pivot point that I refered to performs the same function as your tork tube in that it has a fixed bolt and a tube slid over it that pivots around the fixed bolt. It can't hurt to install a zerk fitting. I also have a new spring coming from Lichtsinn Motors in case the one I have is not the right one. I will post my results. Thanks

I also have the brake pedal problem on my P32 chassis. When it first hit me the brakes were actually staying on and could barely move the vehicle. I hope someone comes up with a fix and posts it here. Currently I have a small bungee cord helping the pedal to return. Course this happens after the Workhorse warranty expires. Seems to me it should be a recall.

Driver:
Mine is behind a piece of 6" steel Channel that the Jack Hydraulics are mounted to. You can't see the tube.
Mike from Brazel's showed me where it was at the Ralley in TN. Not sure if I can get a zerk fitting on it.
For now, I use my left foot and pull the brake pedal up.
