Can’t siphon fuel
Is there something in my tank that prevents me from putting a siphon hose in? I have tried for over an hour. I can get the hose down the fill pipe as far as the tank opening but no further.

Mine has a 90 deg rubber elbow attached to the fill pipe on the tank. The neck of the fill pipe may be what your getting hung on. There may be some other feature at the tank entry to ensure expansion space is maintained.
I will be checking that out when I add a back up fuel pump in a few weeks.

It may be the federally-mandated anti-siphon valve that all vehicles have in the tanks?

Back up fuel pump?
Could you give me some more information about that? I've never heard of it.

For many years anti-theft devices have been included in fuel fillers.

Yep, tricky mesh to stop others pinching your fuel - but I thought that was only in light vehicles.
Have you tried a thinner hose.

No I gave up.
I wanted to remove about 35 gallons of 2 year old fuel. I think I will just top off the tank and call it good.

You might add the highest octane gas you can find, and a can of Sea Foam or something similar.

Removed the fill lines all the way to the 90 degree elbow at the tank. Tried to insert a hose to siphon gas and was blocked by something. Hose would not go in, no way, no how, so I gave up and put it all back together. There must be something in the tank opening preventing the insertion of a hose. Any ideas ??
Motorhome is now at the service center for tank removal, new pump, and hoses to fix gas leak at fuel pump port. They got the tank down but don't know how they got the gas out yet. Will ask tomorrow when they give me the bill. Don't look forward to that.

Let us know what they said about getting the fuel out.
Cost too, if you don't mind saying.

I ant get a siphon hose down our coach, 05' Jeep, or 09' Nissan. But goes right in either of the dual tanks on our 91' F150 pickup truck. Hence, the F150 is the fuel caddy for our emergency backup generator for the sticks and stucco.

Got the coach back today. Forgot to ask how they got the gas out but will call and ask next week. I too want to know. I guess I was too busy absorbing the cost. The pump was $405 and new fuel lines was $166 so total parts was $571. Labor and misc shop supplies and tax was $526.73 = Total repair cost of $1097.73. Actually very reasonable considering what had to be done dropping the tanks with 3/4 full of gas and I did not have to do it.

$1100...that's about what I'd expect...not necessarily what I'd like to pay, but what I would expect.
These babies aren't a cheap date, that's for sure.
