Change diff gear oil s130 axle
I'm wanting to change the gear oil in my 2005 workhorse w24 with a s130 differential. The drain is a lower cap screw. I downloaded instructions from spicer and it states to apply locktite 270 when reinstalling the bolt. I haven't tried removing the bolt yet and was wondering how hard it is to remove. Anyone changed theirs that can give me any advice? Thanks

I have a 2004 W22 with the S130, and changed my diff fluid last year, I had no problem removing the drain and refill plugs using a standard breaker bar.
I did not notice any type of Loctite on the threads and did not apply any.

Thanks, did you put locktite or any sealant on bolt when you reinstalled it?

Sorry to keep asking more questions, but was the drain one of the lower cap screws? Mine has a plug for filling but a bolt along bottom labeled drain.

Is the drain on the front of the differential? I have a W24 as well and the drain appears to be on the lower front. I just top mine off every year if it needs it.

Yes, mine is on the front. One of the bolts is labeled as drain. I thought it was indicating one drain, but maybe both bolts drain. The instructions I downloaded say
1. Drain at normal temp
2. Remove the bottom two carrier to housing cap screws and allow to drain.
Fill
1. Reinsert bottom two carrier to housing cap-screws use locktite 270 and torque to 142-158 lbs ft.
2. Remove the filler plug from the side of the carrier and fill until level with bottom of the hole.

I bought 9 qts of valvoline synthetic 75-90. I think it will take 8 qts. Haven't done it yet, I was wanting to get advice from someone that has done it.

I seem to recall mine as a separate plug and not one of the cap screws.

If you do this, please use synthetic. My dealer just about refused to change my differential fluid at 112,000 miles and 14 years of age asking me "why?" He has a lot of confidence in that synthetic fluid.

I cant read my tag, it has undercoating on it, but my tag is on top, not on the side, that is why I think I have the S110. Also the rear is totally round, no impression of the ring gear.
After looking at mine as well, I do have the "drain" embossed as well, but mine has a drain plug on the very bottom
