There was a question whether or not C DOT used Transynd or not in their plows. First from a guy who's second job is plowing, and first job is firefighting, no one in municipalities / Government uses synthetic fluids. Not because their not better, it is because it is just too expensive for the fleet. Our FD has around 40 vehicles that are equipped with Allison transmissions. They all get "annual" servicing with fresh fluid in motor, trans, diffs, and new air dryers in the brake systems. No real reason to use a synthetic if that is your scheduled maintenance. ALL of our plow trucks are equipped with automatics. We have no trouble pushing snow up to our elevation of 7,000'+ and our snow is referred to as Sierra Cement, not quite as light as Colorado's

On a side note, our Fleet Mgr at the FD uses all synthetics in his motorhome!

I think we just like to give our MHs a treat, like synthetic oils. Some of the plows have well over a 100,000 miles , much more tyhan most MH owners put on their rigs.
If it's too expensive for C DOT to use synthetic oils because they have a hundreds of plows, can you imagine how expensive it would be if all their transmissions started heading south because of mineral oils?
We all know that Honda, Yamaha, Onan,Polaris, Briggs & Stratton, Mercruiser, Volvo, Allison, Caterpillar and every body else just wants to sell their own name brand of oil, just because their name is on it. Hmm, what a surprise. Does any body think these companies make or know how to make this oil?
