Hi Everyone

I am the second owner of a 2001 35ft Itasca Suncruiser with the Vortec 8.1l engine. The vehicle air conditioning is no longer working. Are there any obvious things I should check first, like fuses, whether an air con compressor is running?
I wouls appreciate any ideas anyone may have on fault finding.

Many thanks

John there are some things you can check. Depending on if it's blowing warm air rather then cold, or if it's not blowing at all. There have been issues with the warm air problem. The water valve not closing completely has been the biggest. Some guys have replaced it with a manual valve.

Like you mentioned about the compressor. Can you hear it kicking on when you press the AC button? You should hear a click when it engages, and maybe notice a slight drop in tachometer reading, provided the engine isn't accelerated. I'm not sure where the fuse/s are located but you should be able to figure it out if you have the Chassis Manual.

Short of that if the compressor is engaging and/or it's still not blowing cold air you can take it to you local WCC service center and check the freon level.

Hello John,

I have an '05 Bounder on a WH22. Let me tell you about a problem I had with my levelers and yes, it indirectly, affected my dash air conditioning The front driver side leveler was busted, when I put the tranny in Drive, the leveler alarm went off, as it should.
There is a fuse box on my dash and I pulled the 5A fuse labeled "Jacks alarm", nothing happened. After more investigation I pulled the 5A fuse labeled "Step alarm" that cleared the jacks alarm. However, it also killed my dash AC ! I put the fuse back in and the AC was fine. This fuse just feeds the dash AC controls not the compressor and the stuff under the hood.

So, I would check the fuses on the dash even if there isn't one labeled AC controls.

Hope this helps.
