Chevy Workhorse AutoPark
I have a 1994 34' Winnebago Adventurer with AutoPark that has an intermittent issue. Often when I select Reverse the AutoPark indicator illuminates and you can feel the engine load against the brake. Repeated operation while wiggling the lever; will ultimately release the brake.
Finally I realized then this happens, the AutoPark indicator is not lit in Neutral, but will light when until it releases in Reverse. This tells me the problem is probably in the actuator linkage. Question is, "where is it?". There must be a place where the mechanical transition of the shift lever translates to an electrical signal. Any ideas where?

Have you tried using the search function , for auto park issues ?
I'm sure you'll find more than enough reading on member's issues with the system .

Type in the search oldusedbear. You'll find many threads as he was the auto park expert. If you can find him here or on RV.net he would be happy to help. Last I heard he was I'll and not sure if he's still around.

I don’t know if this helps, but these guys have free diagrams of steering columns that may assist you in finding what you’re looking for. On my 2001 P32 column the physical connection between linkage and electronics is near the floor on the backside of the column.

It is a PARKING BRAKE, not an emergency brake. It is one small drum brake on the drive shaft. Your service brakes are 4 large disc brakes.
It might slow you down it you needed it and it might not. It was not designed to stop you vehicle. However, a much better idea is maintain your 4 wheel brakes so you don't need it as an emergency brake.
I disagree with testing the parking brake at various speed! You just might break (pun intended) something that isn't broken.

I agree with everything Yeloduster wrote.
I would be looking at the shift linkages for worn or missing bushings causing excess play in the linkage or possible a loose bracket for the shift cable.
Be sure the "Neutral Safety / back up lamp" Switch is adjusted correctly and the bolts holding the switch to the transmission are tight.
When the shift lever is in the reverse position do the back up lamps illuminate? Does the shift lever feel sloppy?
