Coach vs Workhorse tire psi mismatch and tire recommendation

2002 Workhorse W20 chassis with a 36' 2003 Damon Challenger body. Workhorse label says FRT 245/70R19.5G @ 95PSI and RR 245/70R19.5G @ 85PSI.
Damon label says Front 245/70R19.5F @ 95PSI and Rear 245/70R19.5F @ 90PSI. Labels are next to each other. Why does the Damon indicate a F tire vs G all aroundand a higher PSI in the rear?

Looking for a recommendation for replacement tires. I have Hercules H-902 all around right now. I would like better handling and a smoother ride with the new tires if possible.

Tire size/load range data should all be on the sidewall of your tires. Load Range F would be a 12 ply tire, Load Range G a 14 ply tire. I don't think the H902 for a given size would come in both, it'll be one or the other. As for proper inflation, once you select your tires, go by the placard (either one) to start, but get your MH weighed with a normal travel load so that you are inflating your tires according to what they really require vs. an arbitrary max inflation number. You're motorhome will ride better, and your tires won't be unnecessarily overinflated. That advice applies no matter if you keep your current tires or replace them with new.

A partial answer to your question may be knowing the tires that Workhorse mounted on your motorhome when they made it. Workhorse shipped chassis with Michelin load range F on some chassis and Goodyear load range G on others. On some years there was a different inflation value depending on the tire load range.

Post a request on this THREAD giving the VIN number of your chassis.

One of our members, edgray has the ability to look up information on your chassis. That information should include the original tires as shipped by Workhorse.

Current Hercules H-902 say L.R.G 14PR.
Ed previously gave me information based on the VIN. I don't see the tire model on it but it does say G rated. I believe there is a label in the rear closet that lists the tires as '607' as the model along with all the other motorhome appliance models. Currently running the tires at the label Workhorse provided like I do for my pickup trucks. But I am hearing I shouldn't necessarily due that but instead go by the weight/psi listing for the tire in single and dual tire application?

The best way to determine how much pressure is to get axle weights at a truck scale when fully loaded for a trip.
Then you can consult tire pressure charts and set your tires for the actual load they are carrying. You MAY find that you don’t need as much as the labels call for, because those are generally set to support the same weight as the GAWRs.

I agree with edgrey. After weighing my RV loaded for a trip with 1/2 a tank of water and full fuel, I found I could run less tire pressure front and back according the the tire pressure chart for my tire make and size. It gave the RV a better ride.
