Crankshaft Bolt…

Anyone try to remove the Crankshaft bolt on an 8.1L?
My front seal is leaking and I need to replace it. I have removed 3 in the past on various vehicles. Two were no problem but the third was a REAL BUGGER!

GM has some REALLY good loctite-like stuff. Tried to get the calipers off my 2500 - no dice, and I have a 3/4 inch socket set with a 30" ratchet.

Just bought a Milwaukee electric chatter gun with 1500 ft lbs of torque. I'm sure I can either remove the bolts or snap them off now.

I have used the starter as an aid in breaking loose a super tight crank bolt.....just lock up a breaker bar against the frame and tap the key.......

Be sure to hold something like a 2 x 4 against the socket end of the ratchet or breaker bar so the wrench can't come flying off and damage the radiator or anything else. It's best to do this with the aid of a helper.

When I need to it, I use a remote push button starter so no need for a helper.....

When I do this I like to have two hands. One to hold the breaker handle bar in place and the other to hold the 2 X 4 against the socket.
I paid a lot of money for these plastic teeth. I don't want to replace them anytime soon.

That's the trick I used on the one that was a bugger. It worked first time.

Yes that M18 Milwaukee is a brute. I found out today not to hammer to long on a half inch bolt when you're tightening it.
