Dash Air Conditioner questions

Last month I had the engine oil cooler lines replaced and on the way home I noticed that the Dash air was only blowing hot air. After several days of trouble shooting I didn't find the problem so I started looking to replace the A/C system since our coach is a 2002 Winnebago Adventurer with original equipment. I suspected a blocked condenser since the suction line didn't get cold so I took it to a repair facility for repair. That was six weeks ago... They replaced everything in the system. It's still not working. I'm not sure if they replaced the evaporator or not but I know there are lots of experts out there . I would appreciate any thoughts as we are up against our departure date for our trip.

Check the Evan's control valve to see if it's really shutting off the hot water.

Exactly. You could bypass the coolant flow into the heater box by plugging the two hoses into each other and see if you get A/C cooling. Evans has a good diagnosis document on their website.

Appreciate the comments. This is where we are now. Yes, the evaporator box was bypassed and made no difference, They also boroscoped the evaporator unit and said it was like new in side. They contacted several of the "best A/C shops" in town and recommended changing out the expansion valve again. We will see...... also, the suction side line still isn't getting cold. Still looking................

had the same issue; mechanic found a "check valve" . removed it and all the new stuff worked just fine since then. the valve is a little tiny bolt. it was preventing the fluid from going all through the system

sorry, have been off for a bit. currently out in va, but when I get back to DE, I will go ask the mechanic who found it. it was tiny; about 3/8 size diameter by less than 1/2" in length.

I'm curious why you had the engine oil cooler lines replaced.

A photo of this check valve would be great, I have seen mention of this issue in other threads, but no one says where it is located.

I replaced the engine oil cooler lines because of oil was seeping thru the crimps on the hoses. The a/c repair was a complete fiasco. As I mentioned on the original post the shop had the RV for six weeks and told me after replacing every part in the a/c system {still wasn't working}the problem was the dash controller which they couldn't find. I was able to find a new controller but was going to take several days to get it. We've been planning a long trip back east and was quickly approaching the planned departure date. I had several other things to do with the RV so I brought it home since we were waiting on the controller. I started looking at a/c system and couldn't believe what I was looking at. Vacuum lines had beem changed and rerouted, the heater control valve removed and replaced with a manual on /off valve, clamps for hoses not installed etc. I went ballistic and took it back to them and insisted it that they put the vacuum lines, and everything else back to the factory design. The owner of the shop was horrified after hearing my complaints and immediately started repairs. I picked up the RV the following day and guess what..............the a/c worked great.. We left a few days later on our 4000 mile trip and it worked great the whole time that we were gone.
