Davis Front Trac Bar

Started working on the front trac bar install today. 2005 W22 chassis.

The u-bolt bracket went on ok. Air tools help a lot.

Looking at the crappy instructions I couldnt figure out how the frame bracket installed. I went in and looked at the website.

It looks like no bolts actually go through the frame. The bracket is sandwiched between the frame and is held on with tension. The instructions dont say, but Im guessing 150# torque.

Has anyone installed this particular trac bar and does it stay put?

Mine has stayed put for about 5,000 miles so far. Seemed like a strange arrangement to me at first too but seems to work fine.

Mine has been on for over 15 years and 90k miles. No problems other than bushing replacements.

Attached is a picture of the track bar frame mount for the UltraRv rear track bar on my Workhorse chassis.

I think this is what you are talking about. The arrangement is similar for several brands. I've not had my track bar very long but I'm not concerned. The design is very secure against lateral forces. Longitudinal forces that might make it slide on the frame are very low.

I used copious amounts of Loc-Tite blue to help assure nothing comes loose.

I installed one about a month ago. Big improvement!
The passenger side clamps to the frame. Be sure to torque all fasteners back to spec. I also put a little Loctite blue on the threads. Here is a link to the Roadmaster Instructions which are pretty clear. Also has torque specs on last page.

The bracket that bolts to the u-bolts has two mounting holes for the bar.

The instructions say nothing about which hole to use or why.

Here's a thread from 2009. I guess they need a little more time to update the instructions, lol.

I seem to recall calling Roadmaster about this at the time and being told to use the hole that made the bar the most parallel to the axle, which turned out to be the lower hole.
