diagnostic plug location

Our RV did not pass smog at idle, while we are trying to do a regular tune up as it only has 30k on it, but no one can locate the plug to plug in the computer to diagnose where the problem is. We've called McBrides who are always helpful and they said the plug is on one side of the steering wheel, then we called another local RV dealer and they said it was on the other side. No one can find it. Help! We can't fail another smog as we've been told if it fails twice we can never drive it. Any feedback would be appreciated!

It would seem that you have a P Series motorhome. Are you running a 454 Chevy Engine? What's the last 8 numbers of your VIN#

1. Is it stock?

2. What were the readings at idle and off idle?

There may not be an onboard diagnostic port! Many Motorhome Chassis were produced in that time frame that were exempt .

You do have a Workhorse and it is a P Series w/ 18,000 pounds of GVW.

This vehicle has a FTY SPID which means that it's a "Wide Track."
FTY · FRONT AXLE WIDE TRACK

The OBDII plug on your motorhome should be located off to the left side of the steering column under the dash. There maybe a plastic cover over it. It should look like a D shell connector where the plug is wider on one side than the other. Winnebago has usually mounted these things in the same place as far back as 2001 that I recall so yours should be the same.

I have seen where some motorhome manufacturers had just let the OBDII modular plug hang there without securing it.

You also have air bags in your front coil springs in case you are not aware of that and those need to be inflated occasionally.

You should register you motorhome on workhorse.com using the My Motorhome resource. Once registered you can down load the 2010 Chassis Guide which will explain all these things to you.

Ouch, could this be true? How can I confirm that?

Yes it is stock, let me get that reading for you, probably can't 'till tomorrow as our friend who is trying to help took them home.

I was wondering if it would be helpful for me me to post pics of what I'm seeing under the dash??? Figured we could play where's waldo! If someone is at least able to identify where and what you're looking at and steer us to look in the right place? Figure'd it be worth a shot!
