Well, I've now had the vent looked at 5 times, & still no resolution. It still leaks, although not on every trip. The axle manufacturer (DANA I believe) wants to try a new style vent. Problem is it is backordered & WH won't receive them till 15 Jul. Unfortunately, we will be at the GNR then. Hopefully I won't have to stop every other day to get the fluid topped off.

Does anyone know if WH will have representatives there at the GNR?

Thanks

Is the oil blowing out of vent or just leaking? If the oil is blowing out it is building up pressure in the unit.
If it is just leaking out, then there is a good possiblity it is over filled. This occurs quite often. The level should be just below the oil fill hole on rear of housing.
Another thing could be if you are getting it filled at several different places, they may be putting in different weights of oil. If the oil is too thin it will blow out due to the pressure buildup.
I hope these suggestions will help. I worked in the DANA plant that assembled these units for 21 years and during this time, these are the things we found to fix the problem

....knock the cap off and put on a rubber hose about 3' long and tie it up to the chassis....leave some slack and change the oil....bet it has water in it and when it heats up it forces the oil out the vent......geofkaye

Hi all,
Here at GNR & enjoying so far.
It doesn't leak when parked. Just ends up all over the rear of the coach & on TOAD. They have already extended it up to the frame, but has still blown out, but not on this trip from NV so far. Dana wants to install different vent, problem will be to get hooked up with a vent & service center at same point in time, when the vent becomes available. Looks like we'll be on road for about 3 months, so will be a challenge.
