Exhaust - Headers

I have a 2004 8.1 chevy on a workhorse P30 and am looking for headers to replace the stock manifolds, anyone have a idea where to find these, seems they are not very common on the P chassis as for the W chassis are much easier to find

Banks and Doug Thorley. Those are the ones I'm familiar with.

Get them ceramic coated.

Also put them on with stainless studs.

If you get banks they have shielding ,specific parts and tubes in kit. Made to keep compliant EGR ect. Costly though about $1400.

Banks discontinued their headers for the P series chassis 8.1L in the last year or two.

I have checked with banks and Doug Thorley, nothing for P series just for the W series chassis, I might have to just fix the stock manifold and be stuck with that, called Banks just yesterday and they told me they have quit building them for the P series

What makes the headers unique to W series vs P32? Maybe a bit of "field modification" might get them to fit?

Long thread on headers here: https://www.irv2.com/forums/f22/new-...ay-307345.html

I ordered & had installed a Banks header system on a 1995 HR vacationer
454 P30
The headers were exactly made to fit on this chassis
The kit came with the entire exhaust system, every part
it was a beautiful thing ... fit perfectly
Still in operation
Has very think plate where bolts to head, if cheap headers and a thin plate you'll have to keep retighting exhaust manifold bolts
If Banks quit making them .... its a shame ...

OP, you could always just port match your factory manifolds and get them ceramic coated.

I appreciate all the help here, but the Banks and Doug Thorley headers are not going to be a fit for my P series 2004 8.1 have found a stock manifold at workhorse and gaskets and going to go with plan B, stock design, just what I have to deal with really wanted to get the headers for the performance factor and having them ceramic coated would have helped with the heat, but it is what it is.

Like I said, get them port matched and ceramic coated.

Wouldn't you need to have the heads off to do that? I was under the impression that the manifold ports are trimmed to each respective head port. Or is there a way to accomplish that with heads in place?

You can use the gasket as a guide.
