Fan clutch 02 workhose 8.1

Is it very difficult to change the fan clutch on the 02 workhose 8.1?

I have changed the clutch on a 454 P30 Brave, but I'm pretty sure it is probably more difficult on the 8.1

If anyone has changed their clutch on the 02 workhose 8.1 could you give me some directions?

Thanks,

Ron

The actual mount to the water pump should be the same , it's the access that will give you stress. Sometimes you end up removing the fan shroud and the fan together.
Overheating problems ?

I also replaced one on my 454 when I had it.
Later I learned it would have been easier if I had cut the shroud on the sides so it could have been be removed.
On my 8.1 it looks like the shroud is already a two piece unit so it may be easier rather than harder.
Please let us know how it turns out.

Fan Clutch

I changed the fan clutch on my 2004 Southwind. Not a big problem since you're able to remove the bottom piece of the shroud to gain access to the fan.

When looking at the fan clutch where it bolts to the water pump pulley, their are four bolts, DON'T REMOVE THEM, it's difficult to reinstall them later. The fan clutch actually threads onto a shaft. You need a 1 7/16" open end wrench to remove the clutch. Normal threads, turn counter clockwise to loosen.

When the clutch is removed, I suggest using a hose and water from the backside of the radiator to flush out all the dust and junk. You'll be surprised how much junk will come out the front of the radiator.

If you have any questions, please PM me...

Jack
