Post Finding Parts for 1989 P30 chassis

Have 1989 Mobile Traveler on a Chevy P30 chassis trying to find a climate control module for it or a suitable replacement that can be used instead.

A P 30 being nothing more than a cutoff P 30 van there should be plenty of parts available from auto salvage yards. These yards have connections all over the country.
When you call have the V.I.N. handy.

Unfortunately the climate controls are not always specific to P30’s or even GM. The one in my 1995 Winnebago comes out of a mid 70’s Dodge van IIRC. The push/pull cables especially the one for the blend door have a bad habit of binding up and breaking the plastic control. I gave up after 3 repairs and replaced mine 4 years ago with a simple push pull knob type used for a truck PTO.

Post a picture of what you have and maybe one of us will recognize it.

Mine was also a Chrysler part, from 87-92 Dodge p/u Ram Voyager mini van. I had a 1990 Holiday Rambler. If you can find a picture of that and it matches yours you got lucky. If not posting a good picture of it is a start.

As mentioned GM only built the under hood part of the air conditioner system, the coach builder was responsible for the control system, evaporator, fan, etc. There were 3 or 4 companies that provided such parts, some of which are no longer in business. Some of them used parts from other companies such as the above mentioned Chrysler controller.

Your best bet is likely pulling your old unit looking for model / part numbers on it and googling those.

That is probably the only way you could get a positive ID on any part you need. I previously had a 1989 Gulf Stream class C built on a Chevrolet P-30 cutaway chassis. I had to replace the AC compressor and the dash control unit. All were genuine GM parts. Every part in and on the dash was GM as was all the running gear.

Feel Fortunate!

You are a lucky guy!

Mine are a mix of Ford and aftermarket. Fun stuff trying to find replacement parts.
