That should be possible. The biggest problem is that head is HEAVY. Getting it up out of the hole and out of the house will take some strength. Putting it back just as hard. Not super heavy...maybe 90 lbs but enough that lifting them up off the engine and into the MH will take some real strength. It is an awkward position to be lifting.

I would probably build a tripod on casters over the engine and use a pulley system to lift it out of the hole. The caster will let you roll it out so you can get it out.

Difficult...but easier than pulling an engine out of a motorhome!

I had both heads off my 7.4l,basically the same, last spring. Yes they are heavy and a tough place to work. I put a board across the opening and had a seat cushion from my tractor that I laid on and it was easier than leaning over a pickup radiator I thought. Put a short chain on two of the bolts to lift it out and also for putting it back in. It helps to have a second person to help guide it back onto the dowel pins on the block.

you should take to good shop and make sure not warped.. do valve job if poss. and think about putting in new cam and lifters and chain. you are 90% there already.. and replace water pump and thermo.. if you can.. other people here said if you use magnets around the outside of lower part of dog house, you will find hidden screws so remove them and then just carefully pry whole thing up, that will give you alot more room make sure to re seal down or you will get fumes and water.
