On our last trip noticed that the four way flashers did not work. Broke out the owners manual but could not find much information on the fuse location or flasher location. Have a W-22 chassis. Signals and brake lights work fine along with the truck flasher. Any suggestions, our chassis is a 2003 which is out of warranty.

Mine didn't work either. I suspect the weather had something to do with it as it sat out in the chassis farm waiting for the coach to be built on it. The "Multifunction Switch" was replaced and all was fine. The second one failed too. I am on my third now.

Think cheep look for a flasher relay on a fuse board you may have two flashers, should have a diagram of fuse panels some where in your manuals. "007"

Just for information. Loacted and replaced the four way flasher--not the problem. Did determine switch is the problem, will replace soon.

The question we need to ask is why the 4way switch is failing.

I am now on my second module and they are not cheap....$260 or so. The first one was paid for under warranty.

If these things cannot handle the current or something, then we need to determine a solution.

Alvinc: Do I read this correct?? The switch cost $260. Maybe I will live without the four-way flasher.

You can check, but the 4-way flasher is part of the turn signal stalk assembly (there are no sub-assemblies). We are talking W22 chassis here, which is the same as the GMC truck and Suburban dash and steering wheel (not sure which years). My 1996 Suburban and 2002 Southwind have identical dash and steering gear. I would love to be wrong, but I just replaced the turn signal stalk assembly last week and old one is sitting in a box in the RV.

This is why, something is wrong, what is the current limit of the stock switch? What can we do to protect this thing?

Check out some the posts like this Cruise control, 4-way flashers, etc.. It seems these circuits are all fused together, and if one blows, you get a lot of symptoms.

Is there some type of wiring issue with your coach that isn't in evidence? What is the total draw in amps from the feed that goes to the 4-Way?

Good questions yes, but finding out the answers may get a little involved.

I think a 552 flasher unit should cost around $3-8.00. My question is where is the unit located. The normal procedure is to listen for the sound but mine doesn't flash so there is no sound. I had the same problem on my P-30 but eventually did find it in a hidden position. The manuals don't list the flasher location on the fuse panels anyplace. In the P-30 it was on the end of a wire hanging above the steering column support.

bsinmich, welcome to irv2
You need to put in your signature profile your coach and chassis info so we all know that your a proud owner of a Newmar MA.
As to this question open your WH owners manual on page 188 you will see a diagram of a fues panel which is located on your dash flip up panel and you will find fuses and relays and flashers that you are looking for.
Answer to your other question the overdrive switch should be left on and the trans will shift in and out of 5th gear as you drive up hills and level off. You will be saving on your gas bill also. If you think its not shifting correctly have it checked out by WH.

Now as a Newmar owner I can give you a Newmar membership in the Newmar Forum and you will not be known as just a new member, what say.
Come and join us on the Newmar Forum and post often. "007"

You can sign me up on the Newmar Forum. I was replying to the question by another member about the OD switch on his MH. If you don't get above 55 mph the switch does nothing since you aren't in OD yet. I will go out right now and see if I can find that flasher but didn't have any luck the last time.
