dmod- there may be a safety "disconnect" as you state, but it would be on the engine, usually in the form of a combo oil pressure sensor (maybe a sending unit) that has a pressure relay inside. If so it'll be ~2" tall, maybe 1" diameter and take a longger than usual deep socket. In the valley of the Vee is not unusual, and at the rear of the engine is likewise not unusual for location, but it only has to be where you can read oil pressure so side of block is not out of the question. The purpose is to shut off fuel pumping if engine loses oil pressure (assuming it might be an accident & don't want to pump fuel all over the place), i.e. to complete the fuel pump circuit only when oil pressure is present; to get engine started the ECU has a temp voltage to fuel pump which shuts off in preference to this circuit when oil pressure comes up to snuff. You can buy the special socket @ NAPA, Autozone... once you figure out where it is & what size, or you can ask them to look it up for you given your engine data.
