Headlight relay kit
Can anyone suggest a headlight relay kit for the P32 Workhorse, a 2002 Winnebago Sightseer?

I would go to NAPA and ask for a 30 amp relay and some wire. Is this a new installation or to replace a damaged relay?

New installation. I would prefer to give my installer a kit with everything in it so he won’t have to go searching for parts.

There are several pages of these on Amazon. I assume you have the square sealed beam headlights. You will just need to decide between the 2 or 4 headlight system and the cost.

I ended up with this.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
No reviews on this particular set, but the company has good reviews.
Thanks for your help.

I installed a headlight relay kit years ago on a previous Trek but had to splice additional wire to reach the headlights since the (then) recommended kit was for a pickup truck.
I need to do a headlight relay on my current Trek and the kit you show looks pretty good. Have you installed it yet?

No, it hasn’t come in yet. I have a local mechanic who I’m going to get to install it. I’m going to have to replace the switch, switch pigtail and high beam switch. The PO modified the pigtail by slipping a wire directly on one of the tines to bypass a burned up section of the pigtail. I’m hoping the relay will cure the problem once and for all. The ignition switch relay is next. I think I’m right down the road from you. I can show you how they did it if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer to see your motorhome. My interest is in the headlight relays so I would be interested in how the installation process goes with your mechanic. I plan to install headlight relays myself - after the glacier of ice disappears in my driveway
I'm a big fan of headlight relays. After installing on a previous motorhome the original 15 year old headlights were so bright I kept them and didn't need to buy anything else.

I've used him before, and he sells quality stuff. He had the individual relays but didn't have a kit with all the wiring. His price was 3 times higher than what I ended up with. I'm sure it is much higher quality than what I bought, and if it had been a complete kit I would have paid it, but I didn't want my installer to have to put it all together.

The kit you ordered claims to have ceramic connector plugs that are more heat resistant than lower price kits. I have this one bookmarked to purchase from Amazon as soon as yours is installed - and has a good review
And, X2 on Daniel Stern lighting. I exchanged emails with him some time back regarding the bright driving lights that almost all people just leave turned ON. He said the NHTSA at one time proposed that all driving lights should automatically default to OFF when the ignition is turned off. That way, people would have to make a conscious decision to turn their driving lights on every time they started the car - instead of just leaving them on all of the time (Some driving lights are blinding with no upper beam cutoff, and some don't do anything and the owners are just poseurs).
However, the proposal failed.
End of rant...

Upgrade to LED headlights. Much brighter than the standard lighting could ever be and you won't need the relay due to vastly reduced power consumption.

LED lights are certainly an option, However a headlight relay kit is much cheaper than legal, DOT approved LED lights. Unless you buy the popular cheap non-DOT "Everblind" brand. No aiming required, guaranteed to project right into an approaching drivers eyes. Sorry, couldn't resist .

I already have LED low beams. I think there is some kind of problem with the jury rigged headlight switch. A relay is probably needed when you are dealing with 22 year old wiring.
