How much time should it take to remove and replace a fuel tank?
I had an intermittent problem with, I believe, my fuel pump on my 2002 W22.
Long story short, the repair facility replaced the pump. They charged me for 13.46 hours of labor for the work. $1507.52 plus the cost of the pump.
I remember having this done to my 1995 Bounder on a Ford chassis and it took about 4 hours start to finish.
Has anyone else had this done and how many hours did it take?

13 and a half hours to remove and re-install a fuel tank sounds a bit excessive. Do you have jacks or other obstructions that prevented access to the tank? You could call and check at a truck shop and ask for the time for the job as listed in the 'book.' Since you've got the RV back, I assume you paid, so it might only be a lesson in not returning to that shop.

Had my fuel pump replaced a while back. Took about 4 hours from the time I drove in to the time I drove out.

Our fuel pump failed on California highway #101 in 2013. 1999 Safari Trek, P-20 chassis.
Towing & repair by All In One Auto Repair & Towing. 406 N. State St., Ukiah, California 95482. Excellent service.
Parts: $897
Fuel pump AC Delco 25178125 ($768)
U-joint and mounting straps (came apart when drive shaft disconnected)
Fuel hose
Labor: $525 (Pump fuel from tank, remove tank, replace fuel pump, re-install tank, replace fuel line, install new U-joint, replace drive shaft, re-fill fuel)
Tax: $72
Towing $0 Coach.Net paid for separate motorhome and car trailer towing

Had same problem near Petaluma. Towing excellent by Coach Net , was able to save drrive shaft parts. Shop charge cost was just under $1400. Same pump part number on box # 25178125 as posted above. Bill listed pump for W42 at $535. Afterwards, found the same part # 25178125 for under $200.
I now travel with a ready to go external back pump.

Good idea for a backup fuel pump. To illustrate my erroneous thinking at the time of our 2013 breakdown, I read a post on another forum stating that if the fuel pump is whining, it is getting ready to fail. Before our big trip, I made the considered judgement that it wasn't whining very loud
Edit. The chassis in my original post was a P-30, not P-20

Been a long time since I've pulled a fuel tank, but there are a real bear. In the small town and area I grew up in, the tank had to be drained, filled with water and then pulled to ensure no fume explosion. Lots of time!!

I just had my fuel pump replaced in Las Cruces, NM three weeks ago. It failed an hour outside of town. Progressive towed it under my insurance plan. The shop I went to had it done the next day. Parts and labor were around 750.00. I have a W22.

I live close to L.C. can you say what shop you used??
Did your pump "give you" a warning it was failing? How many miles on coach?

we had just left White Sands and the coach died. No warning...just died. I have about 65000. It is a 2003 National RV Dolphin

Thanks to everyone for their comments.
While it looks like the time charge was excessive, they only charges $383 for the pump (part # 25178125) and could have charged more. They also refunded me three hours on an air conditioning issue I had where their diagnosis was identical the same issue they fixed a year earlier (a closed valve). I think they felt guilty on the fuel pump hours
So all in all, expensive, but worth not having an issue on the road. I though I heard the pump whining before I took it in and had an intermittent issue (posted in this forum) that could have been related to a fuel pump issue.
Better safe than sorry.

I replaced my in-tank pump 2 years ago. My son and I used a 1000 lb hydraulic table. ( harbor freight special ) It took a couple of hours to get it down with about 1/3 of fuel still in it. Replaced the pump ( $65 ) and replaced the rubber fuel lines feeding the tank. About an hour or so to reinstall. We had to modify the table a little ( took the handle down so it could be slid under the motor home ) also had to jack up one corner of the motor home about 4 inches so the table could be rolled out from under with the tank on it. All in all it wasn't as bad a job as I thought it would be. I wasn't having any problems with the tank but being everything was original ( 26 years old ) I didn't want to end up on the side of the road and have to depend on a roadside garage to work on it. It did take 3-4 days to get the pump.
