The manual for my 04 chassis says change at 30k miles. Personally I think that is way too much. Just changed mine at 22k miles. Using the old blow on the input (by mouth) it took considerable pressure to blow thru it. Plan to change now at 20k miles. I've always carried a spare filter over the last 20 years and a couple of times it sure paid off.

I will push for 30k but I do carry a spare filter. Fords I had only made it to 15k if that.
I think it would be hard to blow thru filter because of high pressure pump. Have replaced filters during trips on the Fords they seemed to fail more often. "007"

Agree. Had mine changed at 12,400, just in case of any foreign matter during production.

"007" You can blow thru a new filter with absolutely no back pressure, naturally I would try that. And your right about fords, always changed a ford before 15k miles

I changed my fuel filter at about 32,000 miles in Greensboro, NC this past October. I hadn't any problems with the fuel system but I thought it prudent to change the filter at that time.

Once a year even if you don't reach 30K...on all your fuel injected vehicles.

Is there a filter available in the Auto supply chain? Or do you have to go to WH?

Cost?

AC Delco part # GF481 or WCC part # W8800482 IF you have a "prior to 2004 Chassis".
On the 2004 and later chassis the filter used has an "additional outlet" and the only part # I can find for the dual outlet filter is W0004996. So, the answer to your question about going to an auto supply chain is "yes", BUT, only IF you have the single outlet style filter.

There was a thread running here in WCMC forum about how to "modify" the dual setup to allow use of the single outlet filter, HERE but I don't recommend such modifications.

FWIW, the chassis guide says "The gasoline fuel filter has no periodic change interval. It can last for years or for hours if contaminated fuel is encountered. The symptoms of a plugged filter are gradual loss of power until the engine dies. The engine will often restart and run with reduced power" ED

I made the "adapter" so my '04 would use the '03 filter ($12 versus $80). And I could get one from any NAPA instead of having to go to WCC.

Sry to sound lazy but I quickly crawled in the rocks looking for my fuel filter and it wasn't where I expected it on the drivers side frame rail. At least I did'nt see it.
Any one know where it would be on a 04 P-32 chassis?

A friend with the 04 P32 said his filter is on the passenger side just behind the rear axle. sounds like it is straight across from the W chassis
